May 12, 2009

A Hagerstown man has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old female runaway at a local motel, Maryland State Police said Tuesday.

Eric Ernest Beale was charged with third- and fourth-degree sex offense, sodomy, perverted practice and second-degree assault, according to a news release.

Beale, 43, of 318 S. Potomac St., Apt. 2, was served with the charges Tuesday at the Jessup (Md.) Correctional Institution, where he had been incarcerated for a parole violation, the release said.

Beale remains in the custody of the Maryland Department of Corrections, police said.

In late January, the girl told state police she was assaulted by a man. The girl told authorities she met a man in the Burhans Boulevard area and was offered a ride, the release said.
