Walkersville 5, South 3
WALKERSVILLE, Md. -- Errors and lack of clutch hitting -- two behemoth problems for South Hagerstown this year -- caught up with the Rebels again on Tuesday.
A throwing error in the bottom of the sixth inning allowed Walkersville to score a pair of runs in a three-run rally that finished the Rebels' season in the Maryland Class 2A West quarterfinals.
The Rebels (6-11) had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth with walks forcing in two runs. South's first run came in the fifth on a run-scoring double by Joey Miller.
South stranded 10 runners on base, twice leaving the bases loaded. The Rebels managed only two hits, both by Miller.
