Washington County Sheriff's Department responds to incidents



The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following incidents, according to Sgt. Roy Harsh:

Sunday:

o At 3:20 p.m., shoplifting was reported at Kmart, 1713 Massey Boulevard.

o At 4:33 p.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 100 block of Hump Road.

o At 5:46 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at Boonsboro Middle School. A bicycle was damaged.

Monday:

o At 11:07 a.m., auto theft was reported at Bobcat of Hagerstown, 12932 Salem Avenue. A trailer was taken.

o At 1:29 p.m., a robbery was reported at the Washington County Teacher's Credit Union, 16802 Virginia Ave.

o At 1:35 p.m., theft was reported at Dollar Tree, 11305 Massey Boulevard.

o At 3:22 p.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 14200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. Someone broke into a trailer.

Tuesday:

o At 9:30 a.m., a bank robbery was reported at M&T Bank in Williamsport.

Shippensburg man held on threat, kidnapping charges



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A Shippensburg, Pa., man was being held in the Franklin County Jail Monday night after he was charged with threatening his ex-girlfriend with a knife.

Robert Harry Thomas, 50, of Roxbury Road, was charged with kidnapping and terroristic threats, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

According to police, Thomas broke into his ex-girlfriend's home at 1986 Philadelphia Ave., Lot 6, in Greene Township late Saturday.

Thomas waited for the woman to return home and reportedly accosted her while she was sleeping, police said. The woman told police that Thomas held a knife to her throat, threatened to kill her, and bound her hands, feet, mouth and eyes with duct tape.

The woman was mostly unharmed during the six-hour incident.

Police did not indicate how the incident ended.

Thomas was being held on $100,000 bond, according to prison spokesperson.

Hagerstown Police respond to calls



The Hagerstown Police Department responded to the following incidents, according to spokeswoman Barbara Pickett:

Friday:

o At 7:26 a.m., damage to window and theft of purse were reported in the 800 block of Lanvale Street.

o At 8:47 a.m., theft of CDs from a vehicle was reported in the 800 block of Washington Avenue.

o At 10:14 a.m., graffiti was reported in the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

o At 3:25 p.m., attempted burglary was reported in the 600 block of South Potomac Street.

o At 3 p.m., damage to a vehicle's vinyl roof was reported on West Oak Ridge Drive.

o At 4:07 p.m., theft of food items was reported at Wal-Mart, 17850 Garland Groh Blvd.

o At 5:10 p.m., theft of medication was reported in the 200 block of East Franklin Street.

o At 5:40 p.m., purse theft was reported in the 700 block of Frederick Street.

o At 11:18 p.m., controlled dangerous substances violations were reported in the 500 block of West Franklin Street. An arrest was made.

Saturday:

o At 12:30 a.m., a controlled dangerous substance violation was reported in the unit block of North Prospect Street. An arrest was made.

o At 3:55 a.m., overdose reported in the 700 block of Medway Road.

o At 9:47 a.m., theft of food item was reported in the 300 block of South Potomac Street.

o At 10:43 a.m., a blue Pacific bicycle was found in the 400 block of Cork Street.

o At 11:13 a.m., electronic mail harassment was reported at 1034 W. Washington St.

o At 10:59 p.m., an assault was reported in the 400 block of Sumans Avenue. An arrest was made.

Sunday:

o At 4:36 p.m., second-degree assault was reported in the 400 block of South Cannon Avenue. An arrest was made.

o At 12:21 p.m., fourth-degree burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Kensington Drive. An arrest was made.

o At 4:23 p.m., armed robbery/medication was reported at Rite Aid, 825 Hillcrest Ave.

o At 7:22 p.m., theft of dark blue Next bicycle was reported on Wayside Avenue.

o At 7:54 p.m., theft of food items was reported at El Paso restaurant, 700 Dual Highway.

o At 8:36 p.m., counterfeit money was reported at an establishment in the 800 block of South Potomac Street.

Domestic violence

o Saturday at 4:53 p.m., referral, 100 block of Wayside Avenue.

o Sunday at 5:55 p.m., second-degree assault, 1000 block of Concord Street. An arrest was made.

o Sunday at 9:57 p.m., second-degree assault, Wayside Avenue. An arrest was made.
