Town introduces fiscal year 2010 budget

CLEAR SPRING - The Clear Spring Town Council unanimously voted Monday to introduce the town's fiscal year 2010 budget.

The town's proposed budget in the upcoming fiscal year is $525,830 - a decrease from $660,000 the year before.

Town Clerk Juanita Grimm said the decease was largely due to a drop in state revenue.

The town's draft fiscal year 2010 budget keeps property taxes at their current rate of 19 cents per $100 of assessed property value, according to the budget document. Residents also would continue to receive a 5 percent discount in July.

Grimm said the town also would maintain the current rate of rental fees for houses owned by the town.

The town's public budget hearing will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 8, at town hall.

American Tower contract to be reviewed

CLEAR SPRING - The Clear Spring Town Council postponed a discussion Monday on the town's contract with American Tower.

Mayor Paul D. Hose Jr. said the discussion was delayed pending a review of the contract by the town's attorney.

The town has a history of leasing property to the company.
