St. Maria Goretti High School will hold its sports banquet Monday, May 18, at 5:45 p.m. in the gym. Dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m.

The senior farewell Mass will be Tuesday, May 19, at 9 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church.

Pet fair

A pet fair and adoptathon will be held at the offices of Long & Foster at 1100 Dual Highway in Hagerstown Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Donations for the Humane Society of Washington County will be accepted at the event.

Planned by Long & Foster Realtor Kari L. Shank, the event is a group effort by her fellow Realtors.

There will be food and drink, face painting, balloons, demonstrations, live entertainment by Bennie and the Jet, and the Mason Dixon Kennel Club will be at the event. Raffle prizes donated by local businesses will be available. You do not have to be present to win raffle prizes. Tickets are on sale at Long & Foster. Tickets cost $1 or six tickets for $5.


TOPS 446

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 446 members enjoyed learning about themselves at the May 6 meeting. Thank you, Jeanne, for leading the program.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 77 met May 4 with 64 members weighing in. The group welcomed two new members, Rita and Susan. Congratulations to Bonnie Henry on reaching her goal and becoming the newest KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly).

Winner of the TOPS Get-R-Done for the week was Elsie Horst. The KOPS winner for April was Louise Cline.

Brook Lane will hold a question-and-answer workshop on autism Monday, May 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Otterbein United Methodist Church on the corner of Locust and Franklin streets in Hagerstown.

Jacob Greenspan and Tim Bleeker will lead the workshop. They are the co-directors of DIR Support Services in Bethesda, Md., where they specialize in working with autistic children and their families.

The program is free and open to the public. Funding for the program was provided by the William and Sylvia Hunsberger Fund.

Bus trip

The public is invited to travel by bus to enjoy the play "Giant" at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, Va., on Sunday, May 24. The trip costs $75 which includes the bus ride and ticket cost. Garden tour

The Women's Club will hold its house and garden club tour Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets cost $20 dollars for all eight sites or $5 for each. Lunch will be served at the Women's Club on tour day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m at a cost of $7.

Tickets for the tour, which includes Plumb Grove, Waddy Cottage at Homewood, Lehman's Mill, Women's Club, Weiss Farm, Truesdell's Brightwood, Valerio Home and Gardens in Chewsville and Lois Weil Kaufman's, House at Cherry Lane can be obtained by calling the Women's Club at 301-739-0870.
