May 10, 2009

With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Tyler Moore hit a two-run single to left to give the Hagerstown Suns a 5-4 win over the West Virginia Power in the first game of a doubleheader split Sunday at Municipal Stadium.

Each game was a seven-inning contest.

The Suns (12-15) took a 3-2 lead in the first game on a three-run homer by Stephen Lombardozzi in the fifth inning off Power starter Gabriel Alvarado.

Nick Arata, Aaron Seuss and Lombardozzi each finished with two of the Suns' 11 hits.

Osvaldo Rodriguez (1-2) pitched one inning for the win, as Moore's clutch hit saved him from the loss. Quincy Latimore hit a solo shot off Rodriguez in the top of the seventh to give West Virginia a 4-3 lead.

In the second game Sunday, the Power (9-21) jumped out to an early 8-0 lead against Suns starter Patrick Arnold (1-1) and held on for a 9-7 victory.
