When members of the student government at Washington County Technical High held their Cinderella's Closet fundraiser for the Humane Society of Washington County March 27, they had no idea how well it would turn out.
On April 23, Skills USA/SGA lead adviser Marjorie Kellman and students involved in the event presented a donation of $559 to Paul Miller, executive director of the humane society.
"All I can say is wow," Miller said. "It is obvious the students and Mrs. Kellman really worked hard on this project and we are so honored to be the recipient of such a generous donation. I think this speaks highly of the Washington County educational system for allowing students to participate in activities that promote others above themselves and donate the proceeds to local nonprofits as part of their school experience."
The event was open to students and the public. Women shopped for their daughters and themselves. With prices as low as $10 and a selection of 113 dresses, there was something for everyone.
