Shirley Ann "Sherry" Sears, 74, of Hagerstown, Md., died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Sherry was born March 31, 1935, in Washington, D.C., to the late Thomas Albert and Evelyn Lillian Jones Sears.

She was a graduate of Frederick Sasser High School in Upper Marlboro, Md., and attended the University of Maryland in College Park, Md.

Sherry was employed as a counselor with the Head Start Program by the Washington County Board of Education for more than 20 years.

She was a member of Lifehouse Bethel Assembly of God in Hagerstown.

Sherry also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include son, Daniel Thomas Currin III and wife, Patty, of Prince Frederick County, son, Michael Sears Currin of Sharpsburg, Md.; brother, Thomas Albert Sears Jr. of Upper Marlboro; and two grandsons.

Memorial services will be Thursday, May 14, 2009, at 6 p.m. at Lifehouse Bethel Assembly of God, 515 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, with Pastor David Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Md.
