Shepherd U. Foundation announces endowment

May 06, 2009

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Shepherd University Foundation has announced the creation of an endowment funded by Shepherd University's Washington Gateway Program.

Funds will be used to provide financial assistance to Shepherd students who once took part in the Junior High Washington Gateway Academy.

Shepherd University recognizes and accepts the opportunity to take advantage of its close proximity to Washington, D.C. Since 1991, Shepherd's Washington Gateway Program has been providing academic, cultural and career experiences both on campus and in the political and information capital of our nation.

An essential component of the program, the Junior High Washington Gateway Academy, is a one-week residential, pre-college summer program that brings promising West Virginia students entering the eighth grade to campus in order to think about, plan and prepare for college.
