DICKERSON, Md. -- The Maryland Dairy Industry Association announces a new farm beautification award program honoring dairy farms across the state.
Attractive dairy farms give the consumer greater confidence in the wholesomeness of milk and stimulate milk sales, which encourages public support for the dairy industry.
This new award gives recognition to dairy producers for maintaining well-kept farmsteads.
Farms nominated for the Dairy of Distinction Award will be judged this summer, and the winners will be announced at the Maryland Dairy Convention in Frederick, Md., in February 2010. Winning farms will receive a sign to display at their operations.
All Maryland dairy producers are invited to submit an application for the award.
Applications are due by June 1 to Leslie Hendrickson-Hart, Washington County agriculture marketing specialist, 7303-7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713 or by fax at 240-420-1713.
