Area Roundup -- Brabson leads local swimmers

BIVALVE, Md. -- Six Hagerstown YMCA swimmers recently competed at the Nanticoke River 3-mile open-water swim.

Paul Brabson, 48, of Boonsboro, led the way, placing third out of 92 in 1 hour, 6 minutes, 8 seconds.

Sarah Besecker, 25, of Greencastle, Pa., was 15th in 1:13:38; Thomas Dahbura, 39, of Hagerstown, was 29th in 1:23:00; George Rohrer, 55, of Greencastle, was 31st in 1:24:48; Tina Mullins, 29, of Clear Spring, was 60th in 1:42:38; and Dallas Strait, 27, of Greencastle, was 66th 1:45:08.

GOLF



Bock hits hole-in-one

CENTRAL CITY, Pa. -- Dan Bock, of Hagerstown, hit his first career hole-in-one at Northwinds Golf Course.

Bock used an 11-wood to ace the 140-yard, par-3 fourth hole.

His brother, Joe Bock, witnessed the shot.

FCA sports camp

The Western Maryland/Eastern Panhandle Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold its Power Sports Camp for students ages 8-13 at Grace Academy from June 15-19. The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Boys sports include baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse and soccer. Girls sports include basketball, lacrosse, softball and soccer.

Each camper will receive a T-shirt, lanyard and sports bible.

The cost to register is $100 by June 1, and $125 after June 1.
