International Night

The International Club at North Hagerstown High School will host the second annual International Night in the cafeteria at North High from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 22. This event is student-organized and run. There will be free food, music, displays, performances and a fashion show. Come experience the various cultures represented right here in Hagerstown.

Plant sale

The Hagerstown Lioness Club will have its annual "Bloom'n Plant Sale" May 6 to 9 at 345 Potomac St. There will be Boston ferns, hanging baskets, planters, pots of annuals, market packs, herbs and pottery. The sale will be from noon to dusk Wednesday and Thursday, and 10 a.m to dusk Friday and Saturday.

The Longmeadow Lions Club will also be offering an array of EcoDepot garden needs.

Lions Club Charter Night

The Hagerstown Lions Club will celebrate its Charter Night at American Legion Post 42 on Saturday, May 9.

Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the Mason Dixon Barbershop Show Chorus.



On April 26, Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Md. 77 had a net loss for the week. Janice Frye won the Get-R-Done contest with a 5 1/4-pound loss.

This week, Mary Jo Cunningham will present the program "Writing down Your Weight-Loss Plan."

Jean Hart and Joan Budny have a new contest, "Power of Three," beginning this week.

The group meets Mondays at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. Weigh-in is from 7 to 9:15 a.m., exercise is at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. For more information, call Donna at 301-223-8143.

TOPS 446

Take off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Md. 446 members, enjoyed sharing all kinds of "things" at its April 29 meeting and played a game that got heart rates up - musical chairs. Jeanne will discuss "Getting to Know Yourself" at the May 6 meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The group meets Wednesdays at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagerstown. Weigh-in begins at 8:45 a.m. and the meeting is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. For more information, call Tom or Mary at 301-797-2547.

Hempen Hill benefit day

Hempen Hill BBQ Bar & Catering, 13208 Fountainhead Plaza, Hagerstown, will sponsor a Benefit Day for Clear Spring Elementary School from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 11, through Wednesday, May 13. The restaurant will donate 15 percent of all food sales to support the PTA.

Final concert in series

The final concert in the Leon Cross Series of musical programs will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 9 at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown. The program will feature all the musical groups at the church, including the Heavenly Harmony Singers, the Chancel Choir, the Bell Choir, soloists and instrumental groups. Admission is free.
