J. Randolph "Randy" Meyers, 84

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- J. Randolph "Randy" Meyers, 84, of Mercersburg, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born Aug. 27, 1924, in Mercersburg to D. Emory and Elizabeth (Parker) Meyers.

He was married to Phoebe Smith Meyers on June 2, 1953.

Randy had owned and operated Buchanan Lanes in Mercersburg and been a partner in Lincoln Lanes and Waynesboro Bowling Alley before working as a salesman for Snap-on-Tools in Washington County, Md.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Upper West Conococheague in Mercersburg, serving as a former trustee and deacon of the church.

He graduated from Mercersburg High School in 1941.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Robinson; his grandson, Tyler Eugene Robinson; his stepgrandson, Andrew Eugene Robinson; and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Kaylee Robinson of Mercersburg. He also is survived by his nephew, D. Clifford (husband of Julia) Meyers of Mercersburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phoebe L. Smith Meyers, in 1995; his parents; a sister, Mary Ellen Meyers; two brothers, D. Clifford Meyers Sr. and D. Emory Meyers; and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Taylor Beth Robinson.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 4, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of the Upper West Conococheague, 34 W. Seminary St., Mercersburg, with the Rev. Anthony Lorenz officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church and Monday one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

Randy requested there be no flowers and memorial contributions be sent to M.M.P.&W. Volunteer Fire Co., 132 N. Main St., Mercersburg, PA 17236 or Deacons Fund of the Presbyterian Church of the Upper West Conococheague, 34 W. Seminary St., Mercersburg, PA 17236.

Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West in St. Thomas, Pa., will be handling the arrangements.
