WILLIAMSPORT -- John Albert Scibilia, 80, of Williamsport, Md., died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at his home. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with several health conditions.

Born Dec. 11, 1928, in New Brunswick, N.J., he was the son of the late Albert and Carrie F. Meka Scibilia.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.

He was employed by Mack Trucks/Volvo Powertrain Inc. for 55 years.

He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 of Hagerstown, Md., the VFW, AARP and UAW Local 171 of Hagerstown.


He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Louise Bushey Scibilia. He also is survived by three children, two sons, Albert John Scibilia and his wife, Jane, of Hagerstown and Michael Todd Scibilia and his wife, Jennifer, of Hagerstown; one daughter, Carrie Antoinette Scibilia and her partner, Heron G. Peart, of Hagerstown; and six grandchildren, Macy B. Scibilia, Miki R. Baltimore, Boomer C. Baltimore, Grayden John Scibilia, Maya A. Peart and Gianna M. Scibilia; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph L. Scibilia, on June 6, 1949.

John enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, gardening and many other hobbies. He also was a loyal New York Yankees fan.

Graveside services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, with Chaplain Beth Johns officiating. Military graveside services will be provided by AMVETS Post 10 and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.

Arrangements are by Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport.
