HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Dale Everett Maple, 96, of 10924 Knotty Pine Drive, Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at his home.

He was born Sept. 17, 1912, in Huntington, Ind., to the late Everett O. and Grace Jane Tate Maple.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Estella Mellott Maple, in 2000.

He was a 1930 graduate of Michigan Public High School, Detroit, Mich. He was also a 1933 graduate of Tri-State College in Angela, Ind., where he received his bachelor of science degree in aeronautical engineering.

He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft as an aeronautical engineer, of Hagerstown, until his retirement.

He was a member of Downsville Christian Church, Downsville, Md.

He was a member of the Lions Club of Williams- port, Md., BPOE 376 of Hagerstown, MD REACT and Travelers Protective Association Post C, Hagerstown.

Survivors include daughter, Jewel-e George of Hagerstown; son, R. Dale Maple of Bailey, Colo.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Delancy Catlett and Chaplain Cristina Puig-Lugo officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday until 4 p.m.
