HANCOCK, Md. - Helen A. Pittman, age 84, formerly of Slabtown Road, and a resident of Berkeley Springs Rehab and Nursing, died Sunday at the facility.

Born Sept. 6, 1924, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Roy Calvin and Bridgett A. Weller Moats, and the widow of Herbert Pittman, who died in 1976.

She was a homemaker, member of the AARP and a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by five sisters, Veriee M. Weller, Etta Mae Younker and Rosalie Ward, all of Hancock, Mary J. Stuckey of Berkeley Springs and Betty J. Hixon of Warfordsburg, Pa.; four brothers, Leroy E. Moats, Herman B. Moats, Ray C. Moats and Paul J. Moats Sr., all of Hancock; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Shelvie Jean Crouse; and one brother, Homer E. Moats.

A service will be held Wednesday, April 22, at 11 a.m. at Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, Hancock. The Rev. Harry E. Strite will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open from 2 to 9 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Stone Bridge Cemetery Association, 14604 Hollow Road, Hancock, MD 21750; or to Berkeley Springs Rehab and Nursing, 456 Autumn Acres, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
