INWOOD, W.Va. -- Five people were taken to hospitals following a multivehicle accident on Interstate 81 just south of Exit 8, a Berkeley County emergency services dispatcher said.
People were transported from the scene to City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va., and Winchester (Va.) Medical Center, the dispatcher said.
The accident took place just after 3 p.m. Both the northbound and southbound lanes were closed for a time, but had reopened by 4 p.m., the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office said.
