CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Melinda J. Bean, 36, of 261 Brumbaugh Ave., Chambersburg, passed away at 12:36 a.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009, in Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Dec. 3, 1972, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of Margaret "Peggy" Zimmerman West and the stepdaughter of Robert West Sr. of Chambersburg.

Melinda was a member of the VFW and AMVETS in Chambersburg, and she enjoyed collecting Boyds Bears.

In addition to her mother and stepfather, she is survived by her significant other of more than 20 years, Ralph "Lynn" Staley; a daughter, Ashley Lynn Staley, at home; two half brothers, Robert West Jr. of Walkertown, N.C., and Michael N. Pine of Mercersburg; and two half sisters, Patricia Souders and Amelia Forsythe, both of Mercersburg.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Roy "Mike" Pine.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Manny Diaz will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
