In the meantime, you have big tax increases up your sleeve. Senator, admit the truth: You and Obama are not going to pay for all this liberal government pork. You are going to make working taxpayers pay for it. While small and medium-size businesses create most of the jobs and value, politicians like you tax our earnings, then "spread the wealth" for political favor from fat-cats or chip-on-the-shoulder hand-outs.
Thousands in Maryland are losing their jobs. Massive inflation from the so-called "Fed" printing money is on the horizon. It is time for a "change" all right! Guess who gets fired next.

Help your local library by becoming a Friend
To the editor:
Have you been to the Washington County Free Library lately or one of the seven branches throughout the county? In these economic times, our public library is more important than ever before.
Our library is serving 50 percent to 80 percent more patrons this year. In addition to books, it has CDs, DVDs, computers with Internet access, programs for teens, resources for job hunters and many other resources and programs.
The Friends of the Washington County Free Library (WCFL) is an organization that provides advocacy and support to the WCFL system.
Our goals are to increase library usage, reading and literacy rates at the central library and the seven branches of the WCFL.
The theme of the Friends 2009 membership drive is "Strength in Numbers." You can help our voice be heard by becoming a member for a bargain investment of $5.
The Friends meet the first Wednesday of the odd months at 10:30 a.m. in the Western Maryland Room.
With a membership, you will receive a bimonthly newsletter. Our members volunteer to assist in various library programs such as the Children's Summer Reading Program, the Adult Summer Reading Program, Student Foreign Language Classes and the Foreign Language Conversation Club.
Members help to raise money for these programs by working at the AAUW Used Book Sale. They also assist throughout the year in activities that promote the library. Friends have opportunities to volunteer in various areas in the library.
The Friends would like to share how you and your organization can benefit from supporting them.
If your organization would like a Friends of the WCFL to speak at one of your meetings, please call Judith Ferro at 301-824-3741.
Membership forms are available at the central library and in all of the library branches.
