HANCOCK -- The third annual Evening in Hancock fundraising benefit for the Hancock Arts Council on Friday was a sold-out event.
Many tickets were purchased at the door for the buffet dinner and an evening of entertainment at the Park-N-Dine Restaurant, said Sinclair Hamilton, chairman of the arts council and a Hancock town councilman.
Proceeds from the event will go toward improvements for the Hancock Community Center Stage and performance area at 126 High St.
Hamilton said the funds also will help with programming during the rest of the year, such as the arts council's drama camp for middle and high school students, the Summer in the Park concert series and the seventh annual Barge Bash, which is scheduled for June 27 and sponsored this year for the first time by the arts council.
