Low bidder named for U.S. 30 work

April 17, 2009

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Thursday that the apparent low bidder for the U.S. 30 repair and resurfacing project in Guilford and Greene townships is Valley Quarries Inc. of Chambersburg, with a bid of $2.4 million.

PennDOT will review the bid materials from Valley Quarries to verify the information that was submitted. If the information is complete and in order, the construction contract for this project will be awarded in a few weeks.

Other bidders on the project included Kinsley Construction Inc. of York, Pa., with a bid of $2.6 million and Highway Materials Inc. of Blue Bell, Pa., with a bid of $3.3 million.

The U.S. 30 project is one of 22 projects in PennDOT's eight-county District 8 region being funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or ARRA. PennDOT will be able to begin construction this year due to the infusion of stimulus funds.
