Boonsboro used an eight-run third inning and took advantage of 10 errors on Thursday to score a 17-5 victory over South Hagerstown in a Washington County softball game.
"We made too many mistakes," South Hagerstown coach Angie McQuillen said.
After scoring a run in the second on a pair of throwing errors, Boonsboro (5-4) unloaded in the eight-run third for a 9-0 lead.
Haley Payne's RBI double and Breanne Lohman's two-run single accounted for the Warriors' first three runs. The next three Boonsboro runs crossed with the help of errors. Amber Welch's RBI infield single and Lauren Abbott's RBI double closed out the scoring binge.
"We stepped up," Boonsboro coach Lisa Lewis said. "We timed the pitcher well and we used the hitting techniques that we worked on in practice. Once we really relax in the box and focus on the things that we need to work on, it really helped us dominate that inning."
