Bank robbed in Hagerstown

April 11, 2009

A man with a weapon robbed a bank on South Cleveland Avenue on Saturday morning, then drove away in a stolen car, according to a Hagerstown Police Department press release.

The man entered Orrstown Bank a few minutes after 9 a.m., police said.

He demanded cash from bank employees, who gave it to him, police said.

The man then drove off in a 2003 maroon Ford Taurus with Pennsylvania registration EGT 3501, police said.

The only people inside the bank were employees. No one was injured, police said.

The man was described as in his late 40s or early 50s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds, police said.

He was wearing a dark blue or black ball cap and had a purple bandanna or cloth over his face. He also was wearing a green and burgundy plaid quilted flannel shirt, which was primarily green; dark pants; and brown work boots, police said.
