A Hagerstown man was charged Thursday with threatening to set fire to the Hagerstown Treatment Center, an addiction treatment facility on East Antietam Street, Deputy State Fire Marshal Joseph G. Zurolo said in a news release.
Glen Keith Hawkins, 30, a patient at the clinic, was charged with two counts of making an arson threat and one count of disorderly conduct, Zurolo said.
Hawkins went to the center at 217 E. Antietam St. Wednesday morning for his daily dose of medication, Zurolo said. While there, Hawkins had an altercation with an employee and was asked to leave the property, Zurolo said. While talking to the center's supervisor outside, Hawkins made another threat to burn the place down, he said.
Hawkins was arrested at his Salem Avenue apartment Thursday morning by deputy state fire marshals, Zurolo said.
He was being held at the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond, Zurolo said.
