Fellowship to sponsor Easter egg hunt
United Christian Fellowship (formerly First Baptist Church of Sharpsburg), 18823 Shepherdstown Pike, Keedysville, will sponsor an Easter egg hunt Saturday at 11 a.m. for those ages 2 to 15. The church will also hold Resurrection Sunday Services at 7 and 9:30 a.m.
Legion Auxiliary to collect worn flags
The American Legion Auxiliary, Antietam Unit 236, will place a collection barrel in front of Sharpsburg Town Hall from April 15 to May 15, where residents can place their worn American flags for proper disposal by unit members.
Sunrise service set for Sunday
The Sharpsburg Community Sunrise Service will be held Easter Sunday at 6:30 a.m. at the Antietam National Battlefield's Visitors Center.
The service will be held in the observation room overlooking Bloody Lane with a view of the sunrise over South Mountain.
Pastor Delancy Catlett will be preaching and special music will be presented.
Sharpsburg couple tours South
Sharpsburg residents Roger and Shelva Lohman traveled by Baer Express on a "Southern Splendor Tour" from March 12 to 24, visiting the southern cities of Lexington, Nashville, Memphis, Natchez, Vicksburg, Montgomery, Macon and Asheville. Some of the memorable sites the Lohmans visited during the tour are the Keeneland Racetrack, Elvis Presley's Graceland Mansion, the Vicksburg Battlefield, the Natchez Spring Pilgrimage, the New Orleans School of Cooking, Jefferson Davis' Beauvoir, Bellingrath Gardens and Home, Macon Cherry Blossom Festival and the Biltmore in Asheville.
Rural Heritage Museum to hold open house
The Rural Heritage Museum will hold a spring open house April 18 and 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center at 7313 Sharpsburg Pike.
Visitors will see homestead cabins, a village, a German four-square garden and open hearth cooking demonstrations. A new exhibit, "The Legacy of Dr. Peter Fahrney" and a new museum building will be on display. A children's craft area and refreshments will be available. Admission is free. Ita Kavanaugh to speak at senior site

Physics olympics
Pleasant Valley Elementary School students recently participated in the fifth-grade physics olympics. C.J. Bentley, Susannah Willems and Rhiannon Leonard built the tallest, freestanding tower, using only one 8 1/2 by 11-inch piece of paper and 50 centimeters of tape.
