George Robert Brennan, 86, of 514 N. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, died, Monday, April 6, 2009, at his home.

Born Sunday, May 14, 1922, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Charles Richard Brennan and Georgiene Putman Brennan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, M. Jane Brennan, in 2001.

He was a machinist for numerous companies for most of his career until his retirement.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.

He is survived by four daughters, Nancy Race of Smithsburg, Judy Sharer of Florida, Jean Pine of Shade Gap, Pa., and Robin Warden of Hagerstown; one sister, Mary Wolford of Funkstown; one brother, Stewart Brennan of Clear Spring; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Courtwright.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond Shriver will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
