Pa. motorcyclist injured in crash

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -- A Mercersburg, Pa., man was taken to Chambersburg Hospital with what police described as "major" injuries after a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon in Todd Township, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

Jeffery L. Main, 42, was riding a 1987 Harley-Davidson Sportster northbound on Aughwick Road at about 5:30 p.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle, which slid about 125 feet before coming to rest, the release said.

Main was cited for careless driving, the release said.

Incidents reported in Washington County

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following incidents Monday:

o At 11:23 a.m., theft from a vehicle was reported in the 18800 block of Preston Road. Maryland tag number 03034TL was taken.

o At 11:38 p.m., theft was reported in the 21100 block of Mount Aetna Road. A wallet was reported missing.

o At 1:18 p.m., credit card misuse was reported in the 7700 block of Mapleville Road.


o At 1:37 p.m., breaking and entering was reported in the area of the Conococheague Apartments, 163 Conococheague St. Home appliances and a Craftsman toolbox were taken.

o At 3:25 p.m., theft was reported in the 13800 block of Distant View Avenue. A bicycle was taken.

o At 4:04 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 1500 block of Mount Briar Road.

o At 4:28 p.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 11800 block of Robinwood Drive.

o At 10:13 p.m., assault was reported in the area of the Williamsport McDonald's.

o At 10:18 p.m., theft was reported at the Homewood Retirement Center, 16505 Virginia Avenue. Money was taken.

Hagerstown police respond to calls

Hagerstown police responded recently to the following incidents:

Thursday, April 2:

o At 11:19 p.m., drug violations and counterfeit currency were reported in the 1100 block of the Dual Highway.

Friday, April 3:

o At 5:47 p.m., drug violations and an assault were reported in the 200 block of South Mulberry Street.

o At 10:54 p.m., a second-degree assault, resisting arrest and failure to obey were reported in the 100 block of West Church Street.

Sunday, April 5:

o At 9:47 a.m., theft was reported in the 400 block of McDowell Avenue. A basketball hoop was taken.

Monday, April 6:

o At 10:08 a.m., theft was reported in the 400 block of Summit Avenue. A stepladder was taken.

o At 12:23 p.m., theft was reported in the 800 block of Virginia Avenue. A bookbag was taken.

o At 4:22 p.m., first-degree assault and robbery was reported in the 300 block of South Locust Street.
