Grace Academy team helps those in need

April 06, 2009

Grace Academy sent out teams of students to help at various sites in Washington County. School officials say the 54 members of the missions team attempt to reflect Jesus Christ through their actions of service to the local community.

This year's officers include Steven Wolfe, president; Katie Mitchell and Hanna Eby, co-vice presidents; Cole Helman, secretary; Brianna Kimpel, treasurer; Kristian Carroll, advertising coordinator; Diana Robison and Marissa Frederickson, communications co-coordinators; and Christopher Fuss, Easter outreach coordinator.

In addition to participating in The United Way's "Day of Caring" at Star Community, and radio station WCRH's Share-a-thon, the team volunteered at Western Maryland Hospital Center, Children In Need, The Salvation Army, Mount Hope Prison Ministries, Book Savers, Food Resources, Julia Manor Nursing Home, the Boys & Girls Club and Grace Academy's auction. In addition, the group collected food items for Hagerstown Rescue Mission, and packed lunches for the REACH Cold Weather Shelter.
