Charles Lupton Pitzer, 84, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at his home.
Born July 25, 1924, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of the late Henry Bowers and Julia (Brown) Pitzer.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, in Hagerstown.
Charles was a graduate of Handley High School in Winchester and also graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
He managed the family real estate business in Hagerstown.
He was a life member of The Washington County Historical Society, Christian Ardinger Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, National Rifle Association, University of Virginia Alumni Association; a charter member of The Antietam Radio Association; a member of North American Rod and Gun Club, Fountain Head Country Club, Elks Lodge No. 358 and The Alsatia Club. Charles was a supporter of the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, The Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Symphony Orchestra Guild and the Maryland Theater.
