GARFIELD, Md. -- Martha Mae (Marty) Lovell, 89, of Garfield, Md., passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009, at the Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home of Boonsboro, Md.

Born Feb. 26, 1920, at Garfield, she was the daughter of the late Rexford and Goldie R. (Wolfe) Kuhn.

She graduated from Middletown High School class of 1937 and from Washington County School of Nursing in 1941.

She was employed with Frederick County Board of Education as a school bus driver and retired in 1991 from Mountain Gate Restaurant as an office employee.

She was a lifelong member of the Garfield United Methodist Church, where she was very active in earlier years serving as adult Sunday school teacher and was instrumental in starting the church quilt show and bazaar in 1976.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dorsey J. Lovell; son, Larry K. Lovell and wife Beverly of Garfield; grandson, David Lovell and wife Misti of Myersville; stepgrandson, Neil Frey and wife Deborah of Waynesboro, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Lovell, Cody Frey and Lindsey Frey; sisters, Virginia Draper of Myersville, Betty Harsh and husband Buck of Williamsport, Jeannette Kuhn of Wolfsville, and Judy House and husband Robert of Frederick; brothers, Donald Kuhn and wife Naomi, Paul Kuhn and wife Betty, all of Wolfsville, John Kuhn and wife Ruth of Middletown and George Kuhn of Sabillasville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sister, Charlotte (Dolly) Beachley of Middletown and brother-in-laws, Richard Beachley of Middletown and Dale Draper of Myersville.

Services will be held Monday, April 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. from the Garfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Katie Bishop officiating. Burial will be in the Garfield United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday April 5, 2009, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg, Md.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Marty to the Garfield United Methodist Church in care of John King at 12044 Pleasant Walk Road, Myersville, MD 21773.
