Dramatic presentation

Virginia Avenue Church of God will host the annual dramatic presentation of "His Story" Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

Pancake breakfast

The Church of the Holy Trinity, at 17805 Oak Ridge Drive in Halfway, will host an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast Saturday from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Tickets, available at the door, cost $5 for adults and $2.50 for those ages 6 to 12. Parents of Washington County students, please note the following: Washington County Public Schools will be closed beginning Thursday, April 9, for spring break. Students will resume classes Tuesday, April 14.


PTA meeting

The South Hagerstown High School PTA will meet Thursday, April 16, at 6 p.m. Parents of students entering SHHS as freshmen next year are invited to attend. The PTA will meet in the school media center.

Evening of inspiration

Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, at 17426 Virginia Ave., will host a night of music and praise. The Jacobs Brothers, from Dillsburg, Pa., will present a gospel concert at the church Thursday, April 16, at 7 p.m. The public is invited. For more information, call the church office at 301-582-0873.

Class of 1974

The South Hagerstown High School class of 1974 will hold its 35-year reunion Saturday, Aug.15, at Beaver Creek Country Club.

An informal social is planned Friday, Aug. 14, at the 10th Inning Tavern in Funkstown.

Any member (and their guest) of any other SHHS graduating class can also attend the Friday evening event (food and beverage on your own) and/or the Saturday evening indoor barbeque dinner at a cost of $30 per person. A 5-day cruise from Baltimore to Bermuda is also planned for Oct. 31.

The South High Alumni Association has two $1,000 scholarships available to two South High graduating seniors. The recipients of the scholarships must have plans to attend an accredited university, college, junior college or community college, or business/technical/vocational school. Applications are available in the South High guidance office.
