Shriners donate circus tickets to children

In anticipation of the annual Ali Ghan Shrine Circus in Hagerstown Saturday, officials of the shrine were in Washington County recently handing out 200 free tickets to youngsters at Girls Inc., San Mar Children's Home and Arc of Washington County.

There will be shows at 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. at Hagerstown Community College's ARCC.

Tickets may be purchased at the HCC bookstore, Hagerstown Honda, Barefoot Bernie's on Dual Highway, Spicher's Appliances on Pennsylvania Avenue, Maugansville Creamery, Gibney's Florist on Virginia Avenue, Always Ron's Deli, Shives Pizza in Hancock and the Honda dealership at 1307 Auto Place.

Tickets cost $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Ages 12 and younger are admitted free.

Featured this year are Kennedy Kane, ringmaster; Larry Rothbard, band leader; Hamid Circus Elephants; Markov's Canines; Desanto Clowns; Alecia Hansen; aerial butterfly; Lyra, aerial beauty; and prancing ponies.
