Incidents reported to Hagerstown police



The Hagerstown Police Department responded to the following incidents Sunday, according to spokeswoman Barbara Pickett:

o At 3:08 a.m., drug violations were reported in the 900 block of Dual Highway. A 20-year-old Hagerstown man was arrested.

o At 11:20 a.m., damage to vehicle windows was reported on Hamilton Boulevard.

o At 1:06 p.m., sexual assault was reported in the first block of Lee Street.

o At 1:21 p.m., graffiti was reported at three addresses in the 300 block of East Ridge Drive.

o At 4:21 p.m., theft from a vehicle was reported in the first block of Berner Avenue. A pocketbook was stolen.

o At 5:28 p.m., theft and a drug violation were reported in the 1600 block of Wesel Boulevard. A 21-year-old Knoxville, Md., man was arrested.

Washington County deputies respond to calls



The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following incidents, according to Sgt. Roy Harsh:

On Friday:

o At 10:38 a.m., theft was reported at Smithsburg High School. An iPod and cell phone were stolen.

o At 1:32 p.m., identity theft was reported in the 15700 block of Gregory Court.

o At 6:38 p.m., disorderly conduct was reported in the 1000 block of Mount Aetna Road.

o At 6:40 p.m., a drug violation was reported at Valley Mall.

o At 7:18 p.m., theft was reported in the 11400 block of Greenberry Road. A razor scooter was stolen.

On Saturday:

o At 12:10 a.m., theft was reported at Break Away Sports Lounge at 13721 Pennsylvania Ave. Liquor was stolen.

o At 7:57 a.m., breaking and entering was reported at Best Building Components at 17950 Maugans Ave.

o At 11:30 a.m., breaking and entering was reported at a garage in the 5900 block of Sensel Road.

o At 5:26 p.m., shoplifting was reported at K-Mart at 1713 Massey Boulevard.

o At 7:39 p.m., damage to a vehicle window was reported in the 100 block of East Antietam Street in Sharpsburg.

o At 9:45 p.m., a drug violation was reported in the 18700 block of Mesa Terrace.

On Sunday:

o At 2:32 a.m., theft was reported in the 13400 block of Keener Road. A debit card was stolen.

o At 1:47 p.m., a drug violation was reported in the area of Liberty Fuels at 21322 Leitersburg Pike.

o At 4:43 p.m., theft was reported in the 15800 block of Clear Spring Road. A fish tank was stolen.

On Monday:

o At 1:58 a.m., an assault was reported in the 10800 block of Downsville Pike.

o At 4 a.m., an attempted breaking and entering was reported at San Mar Children's Home at 8504 Mapleville Road.

Penny-size hail reported on Md. 66 near Boonsboro



BOONSBORO - Penny-size hail fell in the area of Md. 66 and Mt. Aetna Road Sunday at 4:23 p.m., according to a National Weather Service spokesman.

The hail east of Hagerstown was caused by moist air combined with a strong front that moved through the region Sunday afternoon, said National Weather Service spokesman Calvin Meadows.

Severe thunderstorms also formed ahead of the front, Meadows said.

Firefighters respond to fire at local nursing home



WILLIAMSPORT - Firefighters responded to the Homewood at Williamsport nursing home Sunday for a fire in a room.

No one was injured. Seventeen people were checked at the scene, but none was taken to the hospital, said Ed Ernst, deputy chief of the Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway.

Ernst said the fire started when an air mattress pump overheated and ignited a mattress. The bed and a wall burned.

Residents were moved to a wellness room, he said.

The fire was dispatched at 10:42 a.m. and firefighters stayed at the scene until 12:48 p.m.

Homewood at Williamsport is on Virginia Avenue near Williamsport.

Chambersburg home broken into, money stolen



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Someone broke into a home in the 12400 block of Carlson Court and stole money from a drawer, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The burglary happened Friday between noon and 1 p.m., police said in a news release.

Pa. State Police respond to incidents



Pennsylvania State Police responded to the following incidents, according to news releases from the McConnellsburg and Chambersburg stations:

o At 9:57 p.m. on Tuesday, harassment was reported in the 1700 block of Quarry Hill Road.

o At 10:20 p.m. on Saturday, police made a traffic stop for DUI in Chambersburg. Arthur R. Storey, 34, of Chambersburg, was charged with DUI.

o At 10:55 p.m. on Sunday, criminal mischief was reported in the 4900 block of Flickerville Road in Warfordsburg, Pa. A mailbox was damaged.
