"I enjoy reading people's comments about vehicles that they encounter or they see on the highways. As an avid car enthusiast, and truck also, of course, it really amazes me, some of these vehicles that are traveling on the roads every day. First of all, a lot of them have limited-use vehicle tags, which as far as I know in the state of Maryland is illegal for everyday use, but I've come to the conclusion that anything goes." - Hagerstown

"It's my understanding that Maryland is one of the states that actually taxes its state employees' retirements. Now, I've sort of checked on this, and even though I can't get anyone to really verify it for me - evidently not talking to the right people - wouldn't it make more sense to not tax that retirement money? Because it would probably go straight back into the economy." - Hagerstown

"I'm reading in Wednesday morning's paper where the Sheriff's Department (needs) money, so this is about more funding for the Sheriff's Department. You know something, the way the economy is and the ways things are, nobody needs more funding ... don't need to be any more pay raises until the economy gets straightened out. So Sheriff Mullendore, I think it's time for you to sit back." - Hagerstown

"I see Davids didn't bring any sale and the cinemas didn't bring any sale. Doesn't that tell us the economy's bad? But look at all the budgets. The school board and the sheriff want budget increases. Check the newspaper, County Commissioners. Also, why won't the County Commissioners buy Davids downtown? They've been buying everything else." - Leitersburg

"I agree 100 percent with the people who wrote on the 24th about bringing the jobs back home and using American steel. This is the way it should be." - Hagerstown

"I'm calling about the gas prices. This is Wednesday afternoon, about 2:30 in the afternoon. I came by a gas station in the center of Hagerstown, which had gas at $2.09. I came out on the Leitersburg Pike and there's two places out there where gas was $1.82 and $1.83; 27 cents a gallon more for gas. They must not be selling enough sandwiches where they were getting $2.09." - Hagerstown

"So Obama made a boo-boo when mentioning his bowling score being something like Special Olympics. He apologized for what he said, so stop nitpicking and get over it. We have bigger fish to fry with what's going on in our world today." - Hagerstown

"OK, I know the time went up an hour, and now does the gas have to follow and try to get as high as the time? And another thing, this busing children from Clear Spring to Hancock, somebody's got to be out of their mind. Even though Hancock has good schools, leave the kids in their own respective schools." - Clear Spring

"If Mayor Bruchey wants to put a fee on sidewalks for the property owners of Hagerstown, he ought to take a look at the fee the former governor put on the sewer costs here in Hagerstown and surrounding area, and see if he learned anything from it. No way can we pay for somebody (else's sidewalks)." - Hagerstown

"I'm calling in regards to the person on Wednesday, March 25, Mail Call, who is saying about the coffee can exhausts and people's loud stereos and stuff, riding around Hagerstown, and how there's a difference between people with their little import cars and true car enthusiasts. Well, just to let the gentleman know, I spent about $10,000 of my own hard-earned money on my car. Its top speed is about 170 mph, and it's faster and nicer, and I probably won a lot more trophies with it than he ever has with his classic car or his hot rod." - Hagerstown

"It's interesting to read the comments from the upset Clear Spring people, when they thought that their kids were going to have to go to Hancock, heaven forbid. Lack of academics, lack of extracurriculars. Maybe they should ask the people in Hancock if they want the Clear Spring kids to go there. We have a very good school, No. 1 in HSA, No. 1 in MSA. Maybe they should ask the people in Hancock before they worry about whether or not their kids are gonna come to Hancock." - Washington County

"When is that circus going to be in Hagerstown again that was over at the junior college, or where they give away the bikes? I wonder if anybody has any information on the circus at Hagerstown Community College. Maybe you can call in." - Hagerstown

"I cannot afford to fly my Maryland flag because of the high taxes. Between the 'O' brothers, O'Malley and Obama, one's bankrupting the state, the other's bankrupting the country." - Smithsburg area

"When I travel to work in the morning, through my own neighborhood and on the county roads, why does the school bus have to stop and pick up a child, travel two houses, pick up another child? Why can't this child - why do these children have to have a bus stop in front of their own house? Can't they walk that far? It really ties up traffic, and I wish the BOE would do something about this." - Williamsport
