Easter egg roundup

The following egg hunts are planned:

o An Easter egg hunt for Hancock-area children on Saturday, April 4, at 2 p.m. will feature 3,000 plastic eggs hidden in Widmeyer Park in Hancock. Sponsored by the Hancock Lions, Hancock United Methodist Church and Hardee's, the hunt will begin with registration at 1:30 p.m. at the park. Those ages 12 and younger are invited. Rain date is April 11.

o An Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday, April 4, at 10 a.m. at Faith Christian Fellowship, 16726 Lappans Road, Williamsport. Children in different age groups will hunt for eggs. A puppet show by Puppets IV Christ and a free lunch will follow.

o The Washington County Recreation Department and Rural Heritage Museum will sponsor an Easter egg hunt for children 10 and younger on Saturday, April 4, at 11 a.m, at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center south of Hagerstown off Sharpsburg Pike. o Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS will hold an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 11, at 10 a.m. at Byron Memorial Park for children ages 12 and younger. Thousands of real and plastic eggs will be hidden and prizes will be awarded. Lunch with the Easter Bunny will be served for a fee after the hunt. Call 301-223-9022.

o Memorial Recreation Center will host an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Wheaton Park on Charles Street in Hagerstown for ages 10 and younger. Prizes will be awarded. Call 301-790-0203.

o Smithsburg Lions Club will hold an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 11, at Lions Club Park off Md. 66 northeast of Smithsburg. Arrive by 12:30 p.m. to participate in the 1 p.m. hunt. The event is for Smithsburg-area residents ages 12 and younger. Three age divisions will search for plastic eggs containing candy or Lions dollars, which can be turned in for real money. o The annual Easter egg hunt at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church in Hancock is set for April 11 at 1 p.m. in the parish hall and church yard, weather permitting.

o The annual Sharpsburg Lions Club Easter egg hunt will be Easter Sunday, April 12, at 2 p.m. at the Little League field in Sharpsburg. All Sharpsburg children ages 12 and younger are invited.

o American Legion Clopper-Michael Post 10 will host an Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday, April 12, from noon to 2 p.m. at Shafer Memorial Park in Boonsboro for those in preschool through sixth grade. Call 301-432-5695.

o An egg hunt will be held Easter Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Fairplay.

West Virginia



o Pigs Animal Sanctuary will hold an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 4, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the sanctuary, 1112 Persimmon Lane off W.Va. 480 between Shepherdstown and Kearneysville, W.Va. The egg hunt for ages 10 and younger begins at 11 a.m. Other activities are planned. Meet the Easter Bunny, and bring donations of pet food and other products. o Potomac Valley Audubon Society's spring children's egg hunt will be Sunday, April 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Yankauer Nature Preserve north of Shepherdstown for ages 3 to 6. Eggs will be hidden along trails. Collected eggs can be turned in for sweet treats. $5 per child. Registration required by going to www.potomacaudubon.org and clicking on "description of the camps."

o The Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, 36 Laing Drive in Martinsburg, W.Va., (Four Mile Woods), will hold an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 11, at 3 p.m. An Easter meal will follow at 4 p.m. and a bake sale will start at 5 p.m.

o Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Commission will have an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Sam Michael's Park on Job Corps Road between Shepherdstown and Charles Town, W.Va. Includes breakfast, a craft and photos. Children must be accompanied by an adult. $7 per child; $3 per adult. Call 304-728-3207.

o Penn State Mont Alto will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt on campus Saturday, April 4, at 1 p.m. The event is free and open to children ages 12 and younger. The Easter Bunny will be on hand, and there will be candy, face painting and a door-prize raffle for all who attend.

o Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department will host an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 11, from 8 to 11 a.m. at Memorial Park off Third Street in downtown Waynesboro. Plastic eggs will contain candy. Call 717-762-2616.

o Chambersburg First Church of God will host an Easter Fun Festival with an egg hunt Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2230 Grand Point Road.
