CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Phillip M. Wiley Sr., 72, of Charles Town, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Dec. 28, 1936, in Mannings, Harpers Ferry, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles F. and Cora E. Cline Wiley.

His wife, Mary L. Bell Wiley, died Dec. 13, 2008. They were married in 1957.

He retired after more than 29 years as a custodian with Jefferson County Schools.

He was a member of Murrill Hill United Methodist Church, Harpers Ferry.

He is survived by one daughter, Theresa Vincent of Harpers Ferry; two sons, Phillip M. Wiley Jr. of Leesburg, Va., and Christopher S. Wiley of Harpers Ferry; one sister, Josephine Bagent of Kearneysville, W.Va.; two brothers, Mark Wiley of Front Royal, Va., and Richard Wiley of Kearneysville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Flood and Martha Monica; and three brothers, Paul N. Wiley, Carl Wiley and Hugh Wiley.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Pastor James Boyce will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
