Brechbill and Helman Construction Co.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Gregg Thompson and Taylor Davis have joined the Central Pennsylvania chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS).

Thompson is director of marketing and business development for the construction company. Davis is assistant director of marketing.

SMPS includes about 7,000 marketing and business development professionals from architectural, engineering and construction firms in the United States and Canada.

Tower Bancorp Inc.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Stephen E. Beck, who with his father and four brothers founded Beck Manufacturing in 1971, has joined the board of directors of Tower Bancorp Inc.

Beck attended Waynesboro schools and graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

His community involvement includes United Way of Franklin County, Waynesboro Country Club, Waynesboro YMCA, Waynesboro Industrial Development Corp. and the Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce.


J. Edward Cochran & Co.

Julie M. Yoder has been named commercial lines manager for J. Edward Cochran & Co.

Yoder has been with the company since 1998 as a certified insurance service representative in the commercial lines division and has more than 24 years of insurance experience. She received the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors designation 11 years ago.

Yoder is licensed in Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Volvo Powertrain

David Muritz was named Employee of the Month for February at Volvo Powertrain in Hagerstown.

Muritz, who works as a designer in the product development department, was recognized for his positive attitude and willingness to help others even when the task is outside of his job duties.

He has been with the company for nearly 30 years.

Washington County Health Department

Irene Smith has been named Employee of the Quarter at the Washington County Health Department.

She began working at the Health Department in 1995 as an intern with the department's addictions and mental health division. She currently works with clients at CAMEO House, a residential facility that provides counseling and transitional skills training to women with dependent children.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jean Rosenberger and Matt Gunder have been recognized by Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA as top sales professionals for February.

The decision was based on the number of new listings, sales and referrals; attendance at real estate meetings and workshops; and customer satisfaction reports.

Rosenberger has more than 25 years of real estate experience and is licensed in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Gunder, who also is licensed in Pennsylvania and Maryland, focuses on residential sales and working with first-time home buyers.

Four local Tastefully Simple consultants were honored last month at a company event in Richmond, Va.

o Dana Ray received the Top Recruiter in Location and Top Sales Achiever in Location awards.

o Nicole Row and Stacy Raidt received the Top Sales Achiever in Location award.

o Tina Green received the Top Team Sales in Location award.

The women participated in training and were present for the unveiling of Tastefully Simple's new spring-summer product line.

Tastefully Simple is a national home taste-testing company that featured easy-to-prepare gourmet foods that are offered through more than 28,000 independent business consultants across the country.

Praestar Technology Corp.

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Jason Piatt, president and co-founder of Praestar Technology Corp. in Waynesboro, Pa., has been named Young Engineer of the Year for 2009 by the Central Pennsylvania Engineers Week Council.

The award recognizes outstanding technical achievement and contributions to the engineering profession. Nominees are evaluated on academic, occupational, professional, educational, engineering and technical achievement, and citizenship.

Piatt was honored for his contributions to the fields of embedded control, parallel processing, image processing and lean manufacturing/six sigma methodologies, and for his educational and community service contributions. He is the first electrical engineer to receive this honor since its inception in 2000.

Deborah McMillen has joined Edward Jones as a branch office administrator in Hagerstown.

She will work in the downtown office on West Franklin Street.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Nelson H. Witmer has been named vice president of network and infrastructure services for Global Data Consultants LLC, an information technology consulting firm.

He will be responsible for developing and supervising delivery of networking and infrastructure services, building and managing customer relationships, and supporting the firm's strategic vision and business development efforts

Dan A. Logan has been named vice president of application services.

He will manage and drive application development efforts and initiatives, and will be responsible for the management and strategic direction of the application development consulting teams and technical focus.
