The Hills

Herman and Verla Hill of Needmore, Pa., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversay Sept. 6, 2008, with a party at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Warfordsburg, Pa.

The celebration was hosted by their two sons and daughters-in-laws, Lt. Col. Curtis and Lauren Hill of Camp Lejuene, N.C., and Chris and Amy Hill of Needmore.

About 200 guests attended from Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Hills were married Aug. 24, 1958, at Jerusalem Christian Church in Warfordsburg, by the Rev. Ray Mallow, who also performed the renewal of their vows during the anniversary celebration.

Mrs. Hill is the former Verla J. McKee, daughter of Mary J. McKee and the late Clarence J. Mc-Kee. She is retired from the U.S. Postal Service, sering as Needmore postmaster for 42 years.


Mr. Hill is the son of the late Walter and Mamie Hill. He is retired from Southern Fulton Elementary School and also as a school bus driver.

The Hills have two grandchildren.

The Grims

Robert "Bob" and Frances "Cookie" Grim celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at Potomac Valley Fire Department in Dargan. About 70 family members and friends attended.

The celebration was hosted by their son and two daughters and their families, Jan and Missie Grim; Kim and Dale Strite; and Michele Grim.

Mr. Grim retired from the National Park Service, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park.

Mrs. Grim worked at Londontown Manufacturing and retired from Alice's Country Cottage.

The Grims were married Jan. 10, 1959, at Antietam Church of God by the Rev. Harold Beck, now deceased.

They have four grandchildren.

The Wines

Denny and Bonnie Wine of Williamsport celebrated their 40th anniversary celebration Jan. 22, 2009, at the home of their daughter and son-in-law in Gambrills, Md., with family and friends.

The celebration was hosted by son, Jeff Wine and daughter, Mitzi Vandegrift and her husband Chad.

Dennis Wine and Bonnie Tucker were married Dec. 28, 1968, in Frederick, Md.

Mr. Wine is retired from the Washington County Board of Education, where he taught instrumental music and was band director at Clear Spring Middle School.

Mrs. Wine is a former church music director and organist. She teaches private piano.

The couples' only surviving parent, Kay Wine, 92, joined the celebration.
