Michaels' show here 'pretty much a go'

HAGERSTOWN -- Bret Michaels' Rock of Love Bus Tour will roll into Hagerstown Wednesday, his management company confirmed.

The former front man of 1980s heavy-metal band Poison and star of his own VH1 reality show, "Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels," is booked for a concert at Hager Hall Conference & Event Center, said Jeff Lawrence from Michaels' management agency, Artist Representation and Management.

Hager Hall is within the Cancun Cantina West-Barefoot Bernie's complex off Dual Highway. Washington D.C.-area rock band JunkFood will open the show.

Jen Hare, managing partner of West Inc. and Hager Hall, said Michaels will perform for a little more than an hour and would go on after 9 p.m.

"It's crazy how quickly word got out," she said.

Michaels, who grew up in Harrisburg, Pa., has been touring his solo act on a tour named for his reality series -- a dating show in which women compete to be his "rock of love." The show airs Sundays on VH1, though taping for the show wrapped in December, Lawrence said.

The Hagerstown concert was a last-minute addition, Hare and Michaels' management said.

At one point, his management said it was unclear whether Michaels was still coming to Hagerstown because he called off several shows last week due to laryngitis. Among those canceled performances was his Sunday concert in Richmond, Va. -- the only tour stop before the Hagerstown show -- according to Ticketmaster and the venue's Web site.

But Lawrence told The Herald-Mail late Thursday that the Hagerstown show was "pretty much a go" because Michaels would have enough time to rest between the Richmond and Hagerstown shows.

Michaels has another show scheduled Thursday at a Cancun Cantina in Hanover, Md., Lawrence said.

Hare said Friday that as far as she knew, the Hagerstown show was still on, though last week she had been responding to false rumors that Michaels canceled his show here, too.

"It's hard enough doing a show like that on April 1," Hare said.

Hare said ticket holders would be refunded if the show were canceled or postponed. She said tickets for the Wednesday show would be honored if the show were pushed back.

As of Sunday afternoon, tickets were still available on
