March 29, 2009

On March 14, Toastmasters Area 42 held its annual speech contest in Williamsport.

Clubs from Hagerstown, Martinsburg, W.Va., and Winchester, Va., competed for awards.

It was a close contest with some of the area's best speakers, but in the end, Mark West, from the Winchester club, made a clean sweep by taking first place in the International Speech contest and the Table Topics contest.

Connie Smith, from the Martinsburg club, took second place in the International Speech Contest, and Chris Peitz, from the Hagerstown club, won second place in the Table Topics contest.

The three contestants will represent Area 42 in the Division D contest in Frederick, Md., on April 19.
