BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Virgie Lee Whorley, 89, of Morgan County War Memorial Hospital Extended Care in Berkeley Springs and formerly of Lovettsville, Va., died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the extended care facility in Berkeley Springs.

Born May 25, 1919, in Floyd County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Ola Hubbard Belcher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Whorley, in 1966.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Jack's Creek United Methodist Church in Stuart, Va.

She is survived by two daughters, LaVahn Godsey of Columbus, Ohio and Linda Barker of Boonsboro; one sister, Lorna Belcher of Woolwine, Va.; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Lonnis Whorley; one grandson; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Lovettsville. The Rev. Roland England will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home in Hancock.
