SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Alma May Miller, 89, of Shepherdstown, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at Canterbury Nursing Home in Shepherdstown.

Born Sept. 7, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Frances and Jacob W. McDaniel.

She attended Martinsburg (W.Va.) High School.

She retired from the Martinsburg Paper and Box Factory as a box stripper, after 25 years of service.

She was a member of the First Church of God, and in later years attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Martinsburg.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Robert S. Miller; four children, Donna L. Hutzler of Atlanta, Joyce A. Welsh of Virginia Beach, Va., and David S. Miller and Jada L. Clemmons, both of Martinsburg; two sisters, Dallas Peters of Maryland and Maxine Hough of Martinsburg; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Sloat and Geraldine James; and one brother, Jacob W. McDaniel Jr.

A celebration of her life will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Pastor Arnold Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Kearneysville, W.Va. immediately following the service.

Visitation will be Monday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
