WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Charles Lare "Chick" Routzahn, 84, of Walkersville, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walkersville.

Born Aug. 19, 1924, in Walkersville, he was the son of the late Charles Sherman and Anna Lare Routzahn.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Carrie Irene Staley Routzahn, in 1989.

He retired from Londontown Manufacturing Co. in Halfway, after 24 years of service.

He served in the U.S. Army, during World War II.

He was a member of Glen W. Eyler American Legion Post 282 of Woodsboro, Md.

He is survived by two daughters, ZoEllen Wilson of Kearneysville, W.Va. and Sheila Grall of Taneytown, Md.; four grandchildren, Richard Smith of Boonsboro, Kelly Wood of Knoxville, Md., Kevin Rutherford of Walkersville and Kara Self of Romney, W.Va.; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one stepbrother, Jacob E. Routzahn.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home in Walkersville. His son-in-law, the Rev. Pete Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Glade Cemetery in Walkersville.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
