Cascade Elementary School PTA auction



The Cascade Elementary School Parent Teacher Association will hold its 11th annual fundraising auction on Friday, April 3, in the school's cafeteria at 14519 Pennersville Road. A silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m. and the live auction follows at 6 p.m. Proceeds will be used for the students at Cascade Elementary School for various educational activities and supplies.

The PTA is accepting items from the general public that are in good condition. Items can be dropped off any week day at the school between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. or on the remainder additional times of Wednesday, March 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, March 28, from 9 to 11 a.m.; or Thursday, April 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. If pick up is needed, call the school at 301-766-8066 to make arrangements.

Hospice training



Hospice of Washington County, Inc., a Medicare certified, JCAHO accredited, licensed program of nursing, certified nursing aide, social work, chaplain and volunteer support services for the patients and families who need end-of-life care, has scheduled a Spring Volunteer Training Program. The course will be offered April 20, 22 and 24, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The first session in each is an overview of the Hospice concept of care and is open to the public. Used book and toys collection



Local Hagerstown Community College students are collecting gently used books and toys for Washington County Head Star Program. A drop off box is at Sprint, 18634 Maugans Ave., Hagerstown.
