MYERSVILLE, Md. - Eugene M. Hofmann, 80, of Myersville, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Fahrney Keedy Home in Boonsboro.

Born July 23, 1928, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Harry and Sarah Edgar Hofmann.

He attended Baldwin High School in Pittsburgh.

He retired from Page Imaging Co. in Pittsburgh.

He served with the U.S. Marines.

He was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren in Myersville.

He was a member of Elks Club and American Legion Post 12, both of Pittsburgh; and ALAHAMBRA of Florida.

He officiated football, basketball and softball for high school and college teams for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth J. Welker Hofmann; one daughter, Terry Gainer of Myersville; two sons, Eugene Hofmann of Cicero, N.Y., and Wesley Hofmann of Belleville, Ill.; two sisters, Vickie Klein and Mary Turrizina, both of Pittsburgh; three brothers, Harry Hofmann, Bobby Hofmann and Joey Hofmann ,all of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Hofmann.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville. Pastors Tim Ritchey Martin and Louis Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, Myersville.
