HCC athletes set to move on

Four Hagerstown Community College sophomore track and cross country runners have committed to compete for new schools in the fall.

Jordan Atha, a Williamsport graduate, will run for California University of Pennsylvania.

Dustin Adams (Clear Spring) is going to Shippensburg, Ryan Shifler (Clear Spring) is off to Salisbury and Justin Cole (Williamsport) and Mike Podlesnik (Meyersdale, Pa.) are heading to Frostburg State.

Former local earns scholarship

Alan Barnett Jr., son of Lisa Crawford and grandson of Charles and Sue Lochbaum, accepted a full scholarship to play football for Charleston Southern University in Charleston, S.C.

While living in Hagerstown, Barnett played football for the Hagerstown Chiefs and the Hagerstown Packers in junior league and at South Hagerstown High School as a freshman.

Barnett is a senior at Lyman High School in Longwood, Fla.
