A good newspaper, properly delivered

To the editor:

I want to personally thank our Herald- Mail delivery people. All winter long no matter what the weather, - rain, sleet, snow or ice - our paper has been neatly placed on our porch out of the weather. They are truly dedicated employees and deserve a special thank you.

When we subscribed to one of your competitors, I had to search the neighborhood each morning to find our paper.

I also want to let you know that we truly enjoy your paper each morning. I love the format and it is truly refreshing to find a local paper that is unbiased.

Keep up the good work!

Stimulus bill: What is the county's share?

To the editor:

Maryland will receive more than $600 million from the recent $787 billion federal stimulus bill for transportation projects resulting in a projected 17,500 jobs.

Within 24 hours of the bill passing, Gov. Martin O'Malley had already approved spending more than half of the funds ($365 million), mostly on bus and MARC improvements in the metro areas.

Much of the second $300 million is already planned for the Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), and the port. It would be interesting to know if any of our stimulus tax money is coming back to Washington County. Could the County Commissioners please give a report on possible new federal money for county projects?

Time for GOP to get on board and save the U.S.

To the editor:

Everything the Congress wanted Bush signed. He only vetoed two bills that whole six years. After 2006, Bush vetoed everything the Dems tried to pass. Boy, that's what I call bipartisanship. The GOP is just trying to show people that same "my way or no way" attitude that's been here for eight years!

In closing, you Republicans better get on board and try to save this country, because President Obama's not going to take your "my way or the highway" stuff you've been slinging for eight years. Work together or be left behind. This is not the 1980s, this is the 21st century and the way you've done business since 1994 is over!

It took 211 years to accumulate $6 trillion in national debt and only eight years to double the debt! Yeah, like we should listen to you all.

Like I said, get on board or after the next two elections there could be only 10 to 20 Republicans in the House and one or two in the Senate.
