CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Lucy Lyne Nelson, 90, of Charles Town, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born June 12, 1918, in Charles Town, she was the daughter of the late Philip Prosser Nelson and Hattie Bouldin Nelson.
She was a graduate of Harpers Ferry (W.Va.) High School and St. Hilda's Hall, and attended William and Mary College.
She worked at Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif., as a laboratory technician in the medical field.
She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
She was a member of Zion Episcopal Church, Charles Town.
She volunteered with Jefferson County Meals on Wheels and the lab at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Harriet N. Gregory, Ethlyn N. McDonald and Elizabeth N. Covey.
