HANCOCK - Emma Jean "Jeanie" Bishop, 71, of Hancock, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 16, 1937, in Pearre, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry Oliver and Emma Artella Sheppard Vanorsdale.

She attended Alpine School in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Price Memorial Wesleyan Church, Little Orleans, Md.

She was a member of Ladies of the Moose Chapter 1311, Berkeley Springs.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul Elmore Bishop; three daughters, Sharon L. Housewright of Jefferson City, Tenn., Paula J. Hart of Berkeley Springs and Sarah E. Steinbar of Frederick, Md.; three sisters, Margaret E. Stotler of Hancock, Nina M. Widmyer of Berkeley Springs and Mary L. Robinson of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Donald O. Vanorsdale of Hancock and Melvin E. Vanorsdale of Warfordsburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosalea V. Divelbliss, Janet G. Mills and Wanda L. Mellott; and one brother, Harry E. Vanorsdale.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Darryl G. McClain will officiate. Burial will be in Orchard Ridge Church of God Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at noon.
