The Neighborhoods 1st Locust Point group is recruiting volunteers for its Earth Day cleanup Tuesday, April 21, from 4 to 6 p.m.

South High students who participate will earn student service learning hours. Gloves and bags will be provided by the city. For more information, call Liz at 301-992-7751.

Membership meeting

Valley Art Association will hold its membership meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Mansion House in Hagerstown's City Park.

This will be the second annual social for the members.

Bus to show

A bus will leave Hagerstown Saturday, April 25, for a country-western show in Romney, W.Va. For more information, call 301-733-6162.

Tuesday, March 31 - "Magic Mystique" invitational honoring William E. King Jr., magician.

Art exhibit

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will host an exhibition of works by members of the Valley Art Association March 28 to May 17.

An opening reception, hosted by the museum's volunteer organization, the Singer Society, will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Hagerstown Lions Club

Tuesday - Terry Benson will give a presentation on photo restoration.


Democrats for Positive Change will host a nonfood drive Saturday at the Democratic Central Committee Headquarters, 245 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Residents are asked to bring household cleaning products, baby products, personal-hygiene products for men and women, and paper goods.

Residents can also drop off office supplies for The Salvation Army of Washington County.

Women's and children's items will be donated to The Salvation Army's women's and children's shelter in Hagerstown. All paper goods and items for men will be donated to the men's shelter.
